Have you ever heard of Wayang Kulit Gedek? 🤔 Is it the same as Wayang Kulit Kelantan? 

Wayang Kulit Gedek is most famous in North of Malaysia, Kedah - Perlis. It is said that it derived from the performance of "Nang Talung", which is a traditional performing art popular in Southern Thailand. ✨

'Tok Dalang' is the main leader of the show as he also act as a manager, director and actor for multiple of the characters and the storyteller. The two main characters would usually be 'Etong' and 'Ekau'. The figures would be made dressed in modern clothes such as short kebaya and more.

About Persatuan Penggerak Warisan Seni Budaya Negeri Kedah (AKRAB Kedah): 

This association was established in early 1998. Originally this association was named Angkatan Warisan Budaya (AKRAB) and its members consist of the group of teenagers around Alor Setar who have awareness and enthusiasm high to venture and fight for the art of cultural heritage. The first activity carried out was to participate in the 1998 Kedah State Theater Town and was successfully crowned as the Overall Champion and then represent the state of Kedah to the Town Theater Stage North Zone held in Ipoh, Perak.

The show usually begins with short comedy skits and is followed by a song and dance routine that includes a mix of choruses and solos. About 潮藝館（Teochew Puppet & Opera House:

Mor Hun Club was confirmed in year 2014 as the location for Teochew Opera House, and Teochew Opera House began its operation in May of the same year. The goal of this institution is to preserve and endorse traditional performing arts, particularly Teochew Opera and Teochew Puppetry. Apart from preserving the Teochew Opera art in its traditional form, Teochew Opera House also makes the effort to use creative approaches to attract younger generations of audience to learn more about the traditional performing art. Currently Teochew Opera House is led by Ms Ling Goh, she has been exposed to the Teochew Puppetry since young age, from the basics of how to handle the puppets to varieties of performing techniques.

Jikey comes from the word dikir (that is to chant) and is one of the traditional theaters of the Malay community that is more than 200 years old. Jikey was very popular in the states of Kedah and Perlis, Malaysia around the 60s. It is also popular in southern Thailand and is known as Likey and popular in Satun, Phuket and Thrang.
